English to Spanish translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Textiles / Clothing / Fashion / Basting iron
English term or phrase: Basting iron - Basting hole
Take the basting iron and make a basting hole at the ends of the corner lines [Figure F]. These holes will precisely mark the extent of the corner cuts and prevent unnecessary raveling of the corners. In addition, if the canopy is made from dark colored material such as black, when the rigger turns the patch over to do the inside folds, because the pencil marks do not show through the dark material, the corners will be precisely defined for remarking the lines on the inside.

basting iron - basting hole
hilvanar

Explanation:
Espero ayude...

basting iron - basting hole

Explanation:
Basting stitches are extra long, straight stitches which are used to temporarily hold two pieces of fabric together and are easily removed when the project is complete. So in the process of "basting" you make holes and you use an iron to smooth over fabrics and "dissolve temporary thread" from basting.

basting iron - basting hole
hilvan-hilvanar

Explanation:

Simple & Easy Clear Canopy Making........
I start with a good, repeat, good 3 view of the canopy. I need top view, side view and front view. Sometimes pics will work but 3 views are better. I measure the length , width, and height that scales to the model. Then cut a block of pink foam that is oversize. After making tracing paper templates, I transfer the side view to the foam. Then "hot wire" it leaving an excess around the outline. This allows some room for carving and shaping a little later.
After cutting the sideview I trace the top view on and "hot wire" it.
This leaves me with a chunky sort of canopy form. I then take my handy dandy sureform "tool and carve" the mold to shape. Keep checking against your pics to get as close as possible. Trial fit it on the plane to see how close it is and when satisfied sand it with med sandpaper. It doesn't need to be perfect just pretty smooth.
