Bronze #1 was created using a 'lost-plastic' casting technique where polypropylene tubes are encased in a thick ceramic shell, then melted out to create a cavity which is then filled with molten bronze.

He echado un vistazo a las técnicas de fundición que utilizan este tipo de moldes y creo que si usas la expresión que te propongo el concepto queda bastante claro. Además, el contexto de la frase ayuda mucho. Este tipo de moldes, a veces de resina, son muy utilizados.

"Lost wax casting" is an ancient technique rendered in Spanish as "fundición a la cera perdida", "proceso cera perdida", etc. "Lost plastic" is an adaptation of the procedure (and the term), and if you google "fundición" totether with "plástico perdido" you will find several instances of this.
