Ser un hombre del sur y manejar textos sobre la vida en la nieve tiene sus incompatibilidades. ¿Cómo llamamos en castellano a las 'probes' que alguien se llevaría a los campos de nieve junto con sus esquíes, su reproductor de MP3 y su muda de ropa extra, según la siguiente definición?

Explanation:
La sonda de avalancha es un instrumento especial (fíjate en el enlace), no creo sea lo que implica el contexto.

Me parece que se trata de usar el bastón (que a menudo tiene una punta) para probar, tentar la superficie de hielo.

Sin embargo, mis experiencias de montañismo han sido siempre en inglés, quizás haya una mejor forma de expresarlo en castellano.
