When possible; use available transport for movement around the terminal
Personnel shall walk so that they and the vehicle drivers face towards each other, this will increase the ability for both pedestrian and driver to see and be aware of each other. Always try to avoid ***traffic approach to your rear***.
Never wear any ear protection or any device (IPOD, Music player) that will affect the ability to hear.
Never cut through a container stack or any other structure that restricts visibility.
Always ensure they are paying attention and not distracted by radio or telephone conversation. Conversations on the phone or radio shall be made from a safe place where approaching vehicles can been seen.
If walking alone, especially at night or in poor visibility, a radio or some other communication device should be carried so as to call for help if injured. When moving around at night or alone someone should be notified so that a long absence will be noticed. |
