, at least if the source text makes a distinction between cartoon and caricature, it's best to separate between serieteckning/skämtteckning and karikatyr.

What I've been thinking of is that Cartoon is both a noun and a verb... It's not possible to replicate this double notion elegantly in Swedish afaik, but maybe this could yield a broader selection of working translations to choose from (since all translations of this expression are bound to become pretty imperfect right from the start)...

Apart from your own suggestion "skämtteckna", I'm also wondering if "serieteckna dig själv" would work.

Typical for a caricature (karikatyr) is that it is making you an object of ridicule, though cartoon (göra en serietypsliknande teckning av) is more neutral in this respect, though it can still be a funny drawing. I think you should try to keep the meanings as close as possible to the intended ones.
