The proceeds of €3.6 billion represented three times the business’s 2006 revenues, a gain of approximately £600 million for xxx. The proceeds had been returned to shareholders via a special dividend and share consolidation, which achieved the same effect as a traditional share buyback. xxx asked how many shareholders there were, and how many were directors of the company. xxx answered that there were thousands of shareholders, with the top 30 shareholders accounting for approximately 50% of the share capital and the top 50 for approximately 75%. xxx added that five directors had disposable shares, which collectively amounted to less than 0.01% of the issued equity.
