Eftersom vissa ämnen är mycket svårlösliga i exempelvis vatten tillför man en "bindningsbrytare". Exempelvis används lösliga salter av aluminum och järn i reningsverk för att fälla ut fosfat. I det här fallet används kalksten (kalciumkarbonat) för att bryta bindningen mellan två ämnen för att de var för sig blir ofarliga eller för att de var för sig är lättare att rena. |
