English to Swedish translations [PRO] Cinema, Film, TV, Drama / Talkshow | | English term or phrase: Dixie cup | | En talkshow om en mamma som styr sin son. Programledaren säger: "what's happened here is she has your (censorerat ord) ... in a Dixie cup, buddy". Dixie cup är så vitt jag förstår det en engångspappersmugg och uttrycket borde betyda att hon exempelvis "styr honom med järnhand" eller att "hon kontrollerar honom" men vad kommer uttrycket ifrån? Vad är den bästa motsvarigheten som fortfarande har lite bitskhet i sig? |

| | mugg av järn | Explanation: The Concise Oxford English Dictionary gives the defintion 'a large iron cooking pot used by campers or soliders'. Apparently this word is borrowed from Hindi. It has probably been mixed up with the name for the American South along the way.
As for a possible translation, I'd suggest: Hon har dina **** i ett jarngrepp... |
