SHUTTING DOWN FOR A LONG PERIOD
If the machine is to be taken out of service for more than a month, some precautions on shut-down will help to make the next start-up trouble free.
a) Air-to-water heat exchangers (CACW coolers) should be flushed and drained, and a notice hung on the water supply valve to warn the next operator that the cooler is empty. This draining is to prevent deposit attack by the stagnant water.
b) During the period of shutdown, the machine heaters must be left on. It is recommended that a warning light be used to show that the supply is actually on.
