Endwinding tapes förekommer i en handbok för en synkrongenerator i avsnittet med anvisningar för rengöring av lindningarna:

Great care must be taken with old windings to prevent the dirt being washed into cracks or between layers of insulation as this will almost certainly cause the winding insulation resistance value to fall to an unacceptable figure. If this does occur then the only practical solution normally is to wash with detergent and hot water followed by a thorough drying-out schedule. Such a technique as outlined in the next paragraph is often successful on low-voltage windings but it is less predictable with high-voltage stators where it is virtually impossible to wash conducting contamination from deep down inside the layers of endwinding tapes.
