Kortserver, en komplett server på ett enda kretskort, med processor, hårddisk etc. Korten byggs oftast in i enheter för montering i standard 19-tumsstativ och därigenom får många serverenheter plats på en liten yta. Det som skiljer bladservern från andra typer av rackmonterade servrar är att korten står på högkant, som böcker i en bokhylla.
Vissa tillverkare uppger att man får plats med upp till 300 separata serverenheter i ett och samma stativ. Ett annat namn på bladserver är rackserver eftersom de normalt monteras i stativ (rack)."
