En BULT har en skalle gjord att fästa verktyg på.. en slät sträcka som ska igenom detaljen och den avslutas med en gänga. Saknas skallen och gängan är det en SPRINT i folkmun.
En SKRUV har en helgängad kropp. Gamla tiders definition av samma föremål (BULT) är kortfattat en stång med en pressad hatt på så att den inte trillade igenom hålet.
