English to Swedish translations [Non-PRO]

English term or phrase: Hispanics vary widely in their knowledge of English.
In this text that deals with the value of native English speakers knowing some Spanish, the best phrasing I've come up with is "Folk av syd- och mellanamerikansk härkomst have varied knowledge i fråga om sina kunskaper i engelska." However, I wonder if it's possible to come up with something that doesn't have English terms in the middle -- something that would sound a little more Swedish. Does anyone have any alternative suggestions?

agree  Peter Beck: "Latinamerikaner har mycket varierande kunskaper i engelska" would be the simplest way to put it, I think.

agree  Marcelo Tobar: "Latinamerikaner" syftar på alla spansk- OCH portugistalande amerikanska länder. Bättre med spansk-amerikansk (eller spansktalande helt enkelt) :)
