Mycket specifik term; Sven Petersson har rätt i att det gäller påföljd. Bruzelius et al ger en lång förklaring i sin juridiska ordbok:
jeopardy, s: Am. den risk för sakerförklaring och ådömande av brottspåföljd, som en tilltalad i ett brottmål som väckts i behörig domstol löper...
Jag skulle undvika en konstruktion med "det" och skulle skriva om satsen samt understryka att dramat i rätten sker på klientens bekostnad. Något i stil med följande, med tanke på att det rör sig om en dialog:
...och riskera brottspåföljd för din (er) klient
...tills din (er) klient döms för brottspåföljd
"Brottspåföljd" är ett bredare begrepp än "straff." Termen täcker straff (böter, inkapacitering) men även annan påföljd såsom överlämnande till särskild vård. |
