Kan man översätta "noise" i sammanhanget med att röntgenbilder bearbetas i en programvara med "störande element"?

Det handlar om en intraoral sensor med programvara för tagning av röntgenbilder vid tandläkarundersökningar. Röntgenbilderna bearbetas sedan i ett bildbehandlingsprogram där alltså diagnostiskt intressanta områden framhävs och andra områden ("noise") filtreras. Om man nu kan översätta "filter" med "filtreras" här men jag tror det.
