Explanation:
gas scavenging = close scavenging (as they refer to it on the wonderful site I found!) Also called the SUSAN
anläggning = system
There is a really helpful and bilingual (English/Swedish) website about this complete with pictures:
http://www.algonet.se/~co/narutsue.htm
From the site: (Description of the method)
Same in English:
Today there is a method that efficiently provides a solution to this work environmental problem. The method is called close scavenging. Extensive clinical and practical tests have proven that this uncomplicated device can make considerable improvements.
Hope this helps.

11 hrs confidence: though I'm still searching
Explanation: I'll probably will not find the right answer. Just a link with a picture of a typical anesthesia gas scavenging system, which is a pot full of absorbent material, connected to the respirator+monitoring unit. In Sweden they may be from Siemens, but I don't find the right website.
Greetings,
Nikolaus

Hej Paula,
thanks for your email. I answer here, because meanwhile I can make a little clearer, what an anesthesia gas scavenging system in fact is.
On the one hand, there is a relatively small pot at the side of the anesthesia machine (combination of respirator, anesthesia gas delivery device, and gas monitoring devices). This pot is connected by tubes to the outlet of the respirator and to the outlet of the gas monitoring devices (just as it is written above: \"Connect the exhaust from ventilator and gas monitor to the gas scavenging system \"). The exhalation gases (which still contain a certain amount of anesthesia gases, though a small part of these remain in the body) passively flow by the pot, where the exhaled air is cleaned from the anesthesia gases by absorbent material. In this description, two points are essential for the translation:
1) it\'s not \"close scavenging\" (like the SUSAN), but \"distant scavenging\", so the text about close scavenging doesn\'t really apply.
2) there usually is no suction involved, therefor a word with \"sug\" cannot be an adequate translation.
The close scavenging, to the contrary, is - as is visible in the picture - not connected to the exhausts, but hovers freely above the patient, close to his mouth, and the air is suctioned in for clearing. So far the technical differences. Another difference is, that the classical (\"distant\") scavenging system is proven valuable for many years, and is essential to normal anesthesia work, while this close scavenging is a nice way to make money of panicing physicians without providing real value, since under normal anesthesia conditions, 99% of exhalation air leaves the patient via the respirator, not via nose and mouth.
Long explanation, only to hide that I still haven\'t found the right translation; keep in mind, that besides anesthesists and closely related professions few peole, physicians even, are aware of this scavenging device.
Greetings,
Nikolaus
