The xx LVAS incorporates a continuous flow rotary pump with a magnetically levitated impeller to move blood from the heart to the aorta. Blood enters the Pump through an Inflow Conduit that is inserted in the apex of the left ventricle. As the Pump motor and impeller turn, blood is pumped through the Outflow Conduit to the ascending aorta and then out to the body. An external Controller monitors and controls the Pump, manages power to the system, and provides a user-interface for patients. A percutaneous Pump Cable passes through the patient’s skin to connect the Pump to the Controller. The Pump Cable provides an electrical pathway for power and control of the Pump.
