English term or phrase: Hypothermia
I do not really have any text but the question came up because you quite often use this word for someone whom for example fall into cold water at wintertime. I have now also seen it in an article regarding dehydration and would really like to know the Swedish word so that I get a greater understanding of how and when to use the term "Hypothermia". Medvetslösa personer (t.ex. alkohol- och/eller sömnmedelspåverkade) löper ökad risk för sänkning av kroppstemperaturen. Hypotermi medför minskning av ämnesomsättningen, varför sänkning av kroppstemperaturen (inducerad hypotermi) utnyttjas i behandlingssyfte. Den nedsatta ämnesomsättningen innebär nämligen större tolerans mot kortvarigt upphävd blodförsörjning till ett organ. Den skyddande effekten av djup hypotermi (27 °C eller lägre) används vid vissa hjärtkirurgiska ingrepp samt inom neurokirurgin
