English to Thai translations [PRO]
Religion / Catholicism
English term or phrase: guardian angel
This definition is in the Kudos glossary เทพดาผู้คุ้มครอง but I am wondering whether this is the common word that Thai Catholics use.

เทพารักษ์

Explanation:
This is the direct and popular word in Thai. เทพา=angel, รักษ์=guardian. Did you read the popular tale of a honest/dishonest log cutter and a guardian angel.

Thank. I forgot to observe your phrase "Catholic use." Your suggestion can be good in Thai but wrong Thai grammar and spelling (use of prefix, suffix and combination and transformation of Bali/Sanscrit word.) Your word can be good in the sense that many Christian (both Catholic and Protestant) terms need not meet with standard Thai words (that is, many words are "newly invented" to use with new Christian theological concepts.) พระคุ้มครอง is used in Catholic but angel = ทูตสวรรค์ is used by the Seven Day Adventist and other Protestant texts. See www.geocities.com/fundee2000/angels.html etc.
Regards,
SL
