English term or phrase: What is the Ukranian word for Vagina

I would like to know the medical term for vagina in Ukranian. I do not care to know any slang. This is for my mom who is now in her 80's and is trying to remember the word-does not remember which word is the Polish word or the Ukranian word. Both languages were spoken in her home. She would be very happy if I could help her. As a nurse, it would help me with pt care!

Actually, the direct calque from Latin, "вагіна", is also used by medical professionals. It is spelled as "vah-gh-ee-nah" (just as you would read it in Latin).

No, this is not the word for vagina in Ukrainian. I don't think there is any word in modern Ukrainian that is spelled so or has similar any spelling, as far as I know. Maybe it is some other language?

It's ok, I would be glad to help you. You mean, this character: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chewbacca ? Are you sure your mother uses this word for vagina? This really sounds like some kind of verb (maybe "купати"? i.e. bath?) or, if it is identical to Chewbacca's name in spelling, it might sound as "Чу, бабка!" ("Hey, watch what you are doing, old woman!"). I do not know the situation well enough, and I cannot be sure these assumptions really fit the context; these are just my impressions from your description of the spelling.

One more possibility - she is saying "Куда ти?" (spells "koo-dah-tyh"?) = "Where are you heading?".

As I have mentioned earlier, there hardly is a word in Ukrainian that would be spelled that way. I do not think I know any closer similarities except for those I described above. "coo-bak-coo" would be written "кубаку" or "кубакку" in Ukrainian; this is just a pile of letters, makes no sense. Nothing close to any Ukrainian medical term for vagina, at least.

Asker: My mom does use that word when she is bathing. She has to wash her kubacku. Like that guy without the "ch" and a "k" instead. So, I guess I can take it, what are you talking about?
