Finnish to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Other / stage construction for concert venues, etc. | | Finnish term or phrase: Tuoliraudat | There is a list of various items that are needed to build up a stage for concerts, etc.
One of the items listed is "Tuoliraudat". The only information I have on these is that they are approximately 240 cm long and 25 of them are needed for the stage. Does anyone have any idea what they could be?
Many thanks for your help! |

| | English translation:frame for seats, frame of seat row | Explanation: Traditionally 'rauta' has been used for any equipment made of iron (or other metal): sorkkarauta (crowbar), silitysrauta (hmm.. ironing iron), vääntörauta, rekkarauta...
When the equipment is made by joining several iron (or other metal) pieces together, the pl. 'raudat' is used: käsiraudat (handcuffs), karhunraudat (bear trap)...
Here tuoliraudat quite obviously means the frame of a seat row.
Interestingly, when raudat refers to a single object, the plural form of numeral is used: neljät tuoliraudat.
Tuoliraudat can include also the corresponding frame of seat back row.
