Finnish term or phrase: kattaa (jotakin)
Dear all,
This is a purely grammatical question, and perhaps associated to a grammatically clumsy sentence as well. Either way, what remains unclear here is what kattaa is in fact covering. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thank you.

"Ratkaisu kattaa myyntiprosessien ohjauksen prospektien hallinnasta ja tarjousten käsittelystä sopimuksiin ja monipuoliseen raportointiin."

Explanation:
We use this structure a lot in Finnish:
X kattaa jonkin asian (accusative) Y:stä (elative) (alkaen) (aina) Z:aan (illative) (asti).

Modifying your example to make it clearer:
Ratkaisu kattaa myyntiprosessien ohjauksen (alkaen) prospektien hallinnasta ja tarjousten käsittelystä (aina) sopimuksiin ja monipuoliseen raportointiin (asti).

which would be translated

The solution covers the supervision of sales processes (starting) from prospect management and the handling of offers (all the way) to contracts and diversified reporting.

You leave the words in brackets out, I have added them just to make it easier for you to understand the meaning.

Another, simplified example:

Palvelu kattaa auton puhdistuksen (alkaen) ikkunoiden pesusta ja sisäosien puhdistamisesta (aina) imuroimiseen (asti).

You can leave the words ‘alkaen’, ‘aina’ and ‘asti’ out, Finns will be able to understand the sentence that way in any case. I added them just to make the meaning clear.

I think it's the difficult words make it hard to understand the structure in your example.
