Finnish to English translations [PRO] Other | | Finnish term or phrase: säätää (jostakin) | Dear all,
I would like to ask for an explanation on how the verb säätää works with works such as määäys, and which case it requires.
Here is the example.
Vuokraveneen radiolaitevaatimuksista säädetään määräyksissä vuokraveneiden varustuksesta.
I understand that the provisions concerns the equipment of rental boats, but how does the requirements of radio devices of rental boats connect here?
Many thanks for your attention. |

| | English translation:provisions concerning (sth) are stated in (sth) | Explanation: The idea of the sentence is that the provisions concerning the requrements of radio devices for rental boats are stated in the regulations, stipulating the standards of equipment for rental boats.
The structure of the Finnish sentence would translate literally (i.e. not following idiomatic English phrasing: "On sth provisions are given in regulations on sth"

I could have showed the highest confidence level, because there is no problem understanding the Finnish phrase, but I preferred the lower level, as I was a bit concerned, whether I was able to pick up the appropriate wording for the English equivalent or not. :) |
