Whatever the case, the "ambtenaar" in dept. Y is not being held to fulfill some duty, obligation or requirement that the city/town might otherwise require. But in order for this to be the case, it seems most likely that reference would be made to that specific event for which the "ambetenaar's" services had been required, and from which he is now exempt from providing as opposed to referring to the year. At that point I'd be asking myself, "ok... what does the year 2008 signify in my text?"
Since it is referring to an event in 2008, though, it seems all the more likely me that they relieved one of the officers of his duties (for some purpose) that year. Who knows what that purpose was. Bad econ., lacking budget, overemployment, inside scandal, whatever. |
