Proceedings have been stopped because of a settlement and parties are now asking for a date to have their settlement recorded officially during a hearing. In the judge's decision, she writes "rechtsprekende op tegenspraak, zeggen dat er geen aanleiding is om de partijen te horen"... since the parties are not going to be heard how can this be "after hearing both sides"? |

One translation given by IATE is 'judgment after trial'. If you take trial to mean an examination of the evidence (which may or may not include presentation by the parties), then the phrase still makes sense.
