"pièce adv." = "pièce adverse", to jest druge stranke u postupku. U ovom slučaju, ako se radi o nekom dokumentu suda, ta druga stranka u postupku je tuženik. Ako je to napisano u podnesku neke od stranaka u postupku, onda time upućuju na podnesak protustranke.
"ADVERSE: Cet adjectif figure dans diverses expressions que l'on trouve dans les textes juridiques : partie adverse (la partie contre qui on plaide), avocat adverse (l'avocat plaidant pour la partie adverse), camp adverse (pour désigner l'adversaire) opinion adverse (l'opinion contraire), prétention adverse (celle de l'adversaire) : « Très souvent le plaideur, qui reconnaît le bien-fondé de la prétention adverse, allègue en même temps des faits connexes à la cause de nature à l'excuser ou à le justifier ». Il signifie qui est opposé à qqn ou à qqch."
