Can anyone tell me what 'depense' means (in Dutch or English) in the following context: 'I was all alone in what is called 'the depense', in the other house next door.'

Naast uitgaven etc betekent 'dépense' soms ook 'provisiekamer, etenskast / pantry(E)'- vandaar is het een kleine stap naar bv. 'bijkeuken'

Onder provisiekamer mag inderdaad soms ook wel 'bijkeuken' verstaan worden en ik denk dat het dit is wat bedoeld wordt met 'the depense' in de gegeven context.
