Gezien het ontbreken van enige context is het moeilijk om zekerheid te geven inzake deze vertaling, maar in samenstellingen als "éduquer au DD", "conscience DD", "rubrique DD" staat deze afkorting voor "développement durable" (duurzame ontwikkeling) en geeft ze ook heel wat hits.
Let op: ecologisch (duurzame ontwikkeling) is niet hetzelfde als biologisch (zuiver natuurlijk)! Beide liggen wel kort bij elkaar,maar nemen een aantal andere criteria in aanmerking.
Biologische voeding kan gerust minder ecologisch zijn (bvb transport over grote afstand, intensieve machinale behandeling, ...), terwijl ecologische voeding ook niet-biologisch kan zijn (bvb door het gebruik van bepaalde meststoffen, genetische manipulatie, ...).
