Some sort of process involving the taxpayer - hence the "contradictoire" element. No idea what it is in English though!

Reference

Reference information:

"judgement after hearing all sides." I think that that must be the sense here. Its from the Cassell's French-English disctionary.

If you do a KudoZ search on "contradictoire" and read through a few relevant examples, it will help you begin to understand the notion of "contradictoire" in this type of context (which should under no circumstances be translated "contradictory"!).

Funny, considering you previously thanked me for my "tip"! I wasn't necessarily saying that you personally wanted all your work doing for you; however, there is undeniably a growing trend on KudoZ for askers to post terms which they could translate themselves with minimal research. This is what was behind my comment.

I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're trying to say. I did not make a "comment to a moderator". I made a comment in response to Julie's comment, which I felt was out of place. The fact that she is a mod had nothing to do with it. My comment was addressed to her as someone who had commented on my post, not as a moderator.

Nor do I understand how your appealing to writeaway's comment is supposed to bear on this.

I'm inclined to say the same. This is what you get for taking the time to try to be helpful.

Asker: Thanks for the tip!

Asker: I would not dream of asking you to do all the work for me, all i wanted was a straightforward answer to a question that I hadn't been able to sort out for myself. If you dont want to help, why put your name forward in the first place?

Asker: See writeway's comment - I was indeed grateful for the tip, but then you spoiled it with your comment to the moderator.

Asker: Oh please, just forget it, I can't be bothered with this. I wish I'd never asked the flippin' question now! I do appreciate you answering though, all contributions really are gratefully received

agree  juliebarba: It would have been useful to add some hints like two-way, involving both parties, joint, mutual etc!!

-> Thanks, I think... (1) I took the time to point out existing KudoZ references (something askers are supposed to do anyway) (2) I was pointing out a reference, not providing an answer, and (3) sometimes I prefer not to do all the asker's work for them!
agree  writeaway: agree that spoon-feeding askers is sweet and helpful, but is that the purpose of Kudoz or refs. We are pro enough to be grateful about having a tip and then getting on with doing our own work.
