French to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Accounting / Banking services | | French term or phrase: Convention de trésorerie courante | This is a title of a contract for an agreement between a major French bank and its business clients (no particular client - it's a template for a standard contract). The contract relates to a grant of credit agreement - i.e. the bank opens up a credit line for the client, who has to hold a current account with the bank, under a separate credit account. The credit line has a limit, which may be extended or reduced throughout the life of the contract as required, at the request of the customer or the bank. The debt incurs interest, and there are fees if the limit is exceeded. The contract has no fixed term and may be terminated by either party at any time without notice (although under certain circumstances the bank must give a notice period).
I have seen the answers on this page for "convention de trésorerie" but the definitions don't seem to fit with this particular contract. It just seems to be a credit agreement. What does the 'courante' mean in this instance?
I wondered if this could be translated as "Standard Credit Agreement" or similar. Or is there a standard English phrase?

I would simply say "cash management agreement". The word "current" isn't required in English – in fact, you will only find one Google hit for "current cash management agreement". ("Courante" in the FR is simply referring to the fact that this is an "ongoing" facility linked to a current account, rather than a facility with a one-time drawdown.) |

Asker: Thanks - yes I've seen this one, doesn't tell me what to call it in English though! I'm thinking of going with "Current Account Overdraft Agreement" at the moment based on the content of the contract (which I've finished translating) and on all the links I've found such as this one.
