Bus/Financial - Accounting / profit and loss statement
French term or phrase: consommation
It's just an entry on a profit and loss statement

the entries that precede it are:
CHIFFRES D'AFFAIRES
production stockée
production immobilisée
Produciton
achatss de mat premières
variation de stock
autres achats et charges externes
CONSOMMATION

use? perhaps? but it sounds a bit weak!

Thanks

cost of materials consumed
Explanation:
The first line (CA) is revenue, and all the succeeding lines are *costs*. Say so.

That they are costs is understood in French, but in English the reader expects to see, e.g., "cost of production", "cost of goods sold", etc. in this context.

In national income accounting, you could get away with "consumption" tout court. Not here IMO.
