agree  Sara Freitas: management is best, even if they don't actually manage anyone, which is often the case, for ex. engineers often automatically qualify as "cadres"

FYI

Explanation:
an "assimilé cadre" is someone who does not have the status of "cadre" in the company but is assimilated to this category for things like pension rights and contributions. It is one step up from "agent de maîtrise". You coud refer to "management personnel and assimilated"

neutral  Sara Freitas: "cadre" really encompasses almost anyone with a certain level of education and who is not working on an hourly "time clock" basis. It implies no management or executive duties.

  -> beg to differ: "cadre" in France DOES imply some sort of management or executive duties

assimilé cadre
executive-level employees

Explanation:
cadre= executive...on payroll not management
ergo= assimilé cadre are employees that are given executive-level pay or don't have the diplomas to be executives but have gotten there through promotion ...this does not exist in the US or the UK...it has nothing to do with management...a cadre is simply an executive aS opposed to a regular employee...

neutral  Sara Freitas: Two engineers working as purchasing agents...one has the full eng dipl, the other doesn't. The first is on a fixed salary/does not punch in/out and is a "cadre" for payroll. Would you consider him an exec for payroll purposes even?
