hmmm...tricky one....

My initial reading was that détente and euphorie are juxtaposed almost as being opposites - one conveying a state of rest and not doing much, the other a state of high energy. However, looking up "euphorie" in the dico suggests it can be a more advanced level of "détente", which only sometimes results in a state of "surexcitation" (quoting my Petit Robert).

I think relaxation is OK for "détente", but what about "euphorie"? Euphoria is much too formal/literary, but I haven't found a really resonany synonym. (Ecstasy has unfortunate overtones, especially if going to raves is one of the activities...).

So, this answer is not definitive - really just thinking alound....
