The article is supposedly about a fashion house, but most of it deals with the hedonism/ jetsetting/ bohemian lifestyle of Paris in a bygone era
Unfortunately, it consists mainly of a series of headings/captions such as this, with very little actual context. Images are of various jetsetteurs mingling and enjoying themselves (Princess Margaret, Jackie Kennedy...) or at least looking as though they are - with the odd fashion shot thrown in. The next set of images is about parties, beautiful people, glamour (don't know if that helps)...
I'm afraid I have no idea what l'Opening can mean, although doubtless it's a well-known phrase (for some)! I'd be very grateful for suggestions - many thanks!

And, no, Writeaway, this appeared in a French text, even if they have borrowed an English word. Carol, I think that you author is drawing up an image of the glitterati who show up at the opening of anything and everything. And ofcourse with the opening there are always cocktails. For a fashion house that's your clientele, if you are talking about designer clothing, not off the rack clothing. That is if your fashion house is selling designer clothing not off the rack clothing.
And there is an Opening -- a fashiow show - for the a designer's new line.
