A Françoise Sagan quote. It's a quote for a website - and I'm doing the English text (from the French) of course.

My favourite pastime is to let time pass, to have time, take time, lose one’s time, live ....

Any help and suggestions for the wording "contretemps" ??

Hello,

My favorite past-time is to let the time go by; to be in possession of it; to take my time as well as waste it; to live on the off-beat.

I might translate "perdre" by "waste", and "son" by "mon"; and instead of using "temps" repeatedly, perhaps put a few "its" in there. You want it to read like natural-sounding English (the semicolons help achieve this, I believe).


Gus Dudgeon deliberately dubbed in the audience clapping on the off-beat. For some unknown reason, English rock audiences always clap on the off-beat, ...
