French term or phrase: palonnier
patent

sentence curtailed for sake of confidentiality!
"(something attached to a box in articulated fashion) ...de manière à ce qu’il forme simultanément le palonnier du dispositif de reprise des efforts de poussée intégrant les bielles"

this is puzzling to me: in an aircraft context "palonnier" usually means rudder control bar or control column... and yet this description says that the "palonnier" transmits the thrust efforts (from the engine)... other translations of "palonnier" (spreader beam, lifting beam) don't seem to fit either...

hi, thanks, yes despite my not being able to give much context due to confidentiality you understood that it wasn't anything to do with flight controls

disagree  pascie: this is not the proper aeronautical term you are trying to use. You are refering to 'linkage'.

To Mpoma: I understand your confidentiality-driven concern but in translation you are bound to accuracy. By the way, the patent in reference is published, so viewable to anyone.
Bottom line, I am not sure that the answer you selected will be the one you are using in your document, as there is ONLY one possibility of translation.
A "palonnier" is not a bar, or a beam, as correctly admitted by you in you request [as they don't fit either'], but a pedal-based system.
It is not correct to mislead other translators.

-> you are mistaken as I didn't mean 'flight controls' but 'control surfaces', which are 2 different things. I recommend you revise your glossaries before flying.
