I haven't been able to find a specific term for arceau but by looking at the figure and rerading my sentence, I am supposing it's just referring to the width of the canopy and is bendable so "arc" will probably do. @Ellen Kraus: I wish I had found the site you mentioned where this term is translated into English.

it definitely isn't a roll-over bar.

It clearly is not a roll-over bar, because it is "déformable" and also because it is part of the parachute/lift member of the design.

could it not be a roll bar or roll-over bar, in German it is called Überrollbügel for paragliding with and without motor. Each and every car is equipped with this indispensable component. I found the German term in quite a number of links. and resort to Google pictures to have the object shown.

I have checked your link, it seems that "arceau" is part of a chassis...it seems that this is on a "paramotor" whereas the type of "kite" in my doc is for "self-gliding" kites.

hi, yes I did indeed notice that your lik mentionned "cell" for caisson, the only reason I put "compartment" is because it's the translation used in the abstract of the patent
