Tech/Engineering - Aerospace / Aviation / Space / aircraft maintenance | | French term or phrase: NTI = niveau technique d'intervention | I have a document from a major aerospace player which mentions three levels of technical work, in connection with aircraft fleet maintenance, viz. NTI 1, NTI 2, and NTI 3
I have found out that this stands for 'niveau technique d'intervention' in FR, but so far in my own research (still in the early stages!) I have not been able to find if the same concept exists in EN, and if so, what it is called?
I'm taking the liberty of already posting this as a question, as I feel sure this would make a useful glossary entry. |

That's how I've translated it in the past, and also how it's been referred to in the aero companies where I've worked. No doubt there will be other suggestions before too long. |

Client confirmed this is indeed the sense (though apparently these terms have now been superseded within their organization!).
These were not the exact terms I used, as the client already had a preference for other terms, as kindly indicated by Alison in her ref. comment below.

La réparation est faite sur le « terrain » c'est-à-dire en piste ou sur un théâtre d’opérations et elle consiste à remplacer une unité remplaçable en lignes appelée LRU, opération qui représente l’échange standard d’un boîtier.
Le niveau 2 – appelé NTI2, ILM, shop ou level 2 – est le niveau de maintenance intermédiaire. La réparation est faite en hangar ou en atelier et elle consiste à changer une unité remplaçable en atelier appelée URA, sous composant d’une URL
Le niveau 3 – appelé NTI3, DLM, level 3 ou manufacturer – est le niveau de maintenance le plus approfondit. La réparation est faite chez un intervenant agréé qui est souvent le constructeur de l’organe en panne et consiste en la réparation de l’URA en panne par échange de composant.

Asker: Thanks, Alison! In fact, the term preferred by my client was indeed one of those you suggested (OLM / ILM / DLM) — though they pointed out that within their organization at least, these terms have now been superseded.
