I assume from the above that charge linéaire is the mean load along the periphery of a seal, i.e. the flange load (I think).

In this context I would avoid using the word linear since it is potentially ambiguous in describing the functional way in which the load is distributed. There again, "non-linear" has a very different and specific meaning in mathematics. "Load per unit length" is both descriptive and unambiguous in describing the load around the circumference (which may in fact not be uniform at all).
Re. "linear density": Doesn't make much sense in this context, where a seal face is being tightened up.

Assuming these seals are circular, I'm guessing that the cross-section is in the form of a C which deforms plastically under load. Any irregularities in the mating surfaces would be ironed out, as it were, leading to a more uniform load around the circumference, ie the *load per unit length*.
