This is in a paragraph discusses samples taken from slaughtered carcasses for E. coli testing:

Une description complete des échantillons, y compris leur état, leur origine (**ligne d’abattage** dont ils proviennent), le code du lot, la date et l’heure de collecte, la quantité sont enregistrés périodiquement et mis à jour.

Does this just mean the factory line on which they were slaughtered? I know that you usually use the word "chaine" for factory lines. I'm just not sure "ligne" is also used.
