French to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Agriculture / EU/Common Agricultural Policy
French term or phrase: adventices/ravageurs
Would these terms be referring simply to 'weeds' and 'pests' in the context below? I presume that this is referring to plants that grow where they are not wanted and things that eat crops that ARE wanted...

Les principes de base de l'agriculture biologique sont :
o le respect des propriétés naturelles des sols et de la teneur en MO ;
o la prévention comme outil de préservation de la santé des plantes et des animaux ;
o la rotation des cultures pour la maîtrise des adventices et des ravageurs ;
o une pratique accrue des interventions mécaniques (préparation du sol et désherbage) ;
o le maintien de la biodiversité (faune / flore).

fast growing and invasive weeds

Explanation:
Adventitious weeds spring up early and suppress crop growth; rapacious weeds take over the block by their vigour, and spread to the neighbours.
