I am slightly confused by what they are saying below
about cereals...(right at the end). AB here stands for 'agriculture biologique', i.e. 'organic farming' which...

...is developing in areas which, historically, present less of a risk to the water resource...and little risk to (the growing of) cereals? Or that organic farming is developing little in the area of cereal growing....? I suppose it depends on how 82,000 ha is considered as a national percentage...

I think I have been doing this translation for too long!

Si l’AB est plus développée que la production intégrée (3% soit 11 000 exploitations et 2% de la SAU), son développement est moindre en France que dans d’autres pays européens (Autriche (12%), Italie (8%)) et tend à stagner. Il reste aujourd’hui encore un différentiel de prix important à la consommation (faiblesse des volumes autant que coûts de production plus importants).
De plus, elle se développe autour des secteurs présentant historiquement moins de risque pour la ressource en eau (fourrages, pâturage) et peu sur les céréales (82 000 ha).

agree  John Speese: All good choices, and to a lesser extent in cereals is yet another possibility, and I don't know about the UK, but in the US we usually say grains rather than cereals.
