It seems to be talking about some statistical survey method of determining yields of crops (here, rendement probably means yield). |

This is more a term for grazing crops, but the tool and measuring method is the same.
"Use the pasture plate by walking the pasture, selecting a location, and placing the plate gently on the forage until it supports the plate. Measure the height of the plate's top above the ground. Placing the plate on the forage is more satisfactory than dropping the plate from a standard height. We found that dropping the plate is not practical on hills or on windy days."

I've also found the term "pasture plate meter", an invention slightly more advanced than the somewhat primitive versions hitherto described. ;-) |

| Grading comment Though I couldn't use "pasture plate" for crops, it led me, first, to the term "disk meter" and then to "plate meter" (a rectangle-shaped disk meter) which is used with row crops. Thanks
