early retirement incentive-related benefits
Explanation:
On the basis of Emma's link, I wonder if the "indemnités viagères de départ" in the text is not simply a case of adding the precise term for the more generally understood term which immediately precedes it: "dispositifs de pré-retraite ".

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you for your suggestion, Eutychus. I am sure you are right that these are incentives for retirement, but I think it is important to hold on to the annnuities element here.

Asker: I think you need 'annuities' too, so I have added this for the glosssary entry

annuities compensating for early departure

Explanation:
The characteritic of a "viager" is periodic payments during the lifetime of the recipient which come to an end on his/her death.

Asker: Thank you François- I am sure you are correct about the 'annuities'. However, 'early departure' doesn't sound quite right to me- although of course it would mean not having to repeat 'early retirement'.

agree  Eutychus: 'annuity' would provide extra clarity, yes.

-> "Retirement" may be too specific". When I retired from my university (on a group offer) those who were over 50 were offered "retirement" those below, "severance". Could that term serve?

pension benefits

Explanation:
Turn the phrase around and say "pension benefits or other early-retirement incentives".
2 reasons: the French term indicating lifetime annuities in unnecessarily specific in this context, used only because IVD is such a set term; and although the pension benefits may be supplemental to any the farmer already has, this goes without saying (because they wouldn't be an incentive otherwise).

Asker: Thank you, rkillings. I like your suggestion of turning the phrase round. However, I think the 'annuities' element should be retained.
