French term or phrase: filières
This is a job description for a position in a research institute in France.

The job description includes:
"...développer des outils de mesure des performances environnementales et sociales de différents types de filières dans la perspective de leur certification"

and:

"...développer et adapter des outils de mesure des effets environnementaux et sociaux de filières de produits tropicaux sur les marchés domestiques, régionaux et internationaux"

I have found "processes" or "industries" but neither seems to make sense in this context, although "processes" fits better.

Thanks for suggestions!

(sub)sectors AND industries AND commodity chains
Explanation:
It depends. For example, la filière du boeuf organique = organic beef subsector or commodity/production chain within the general meat sector. One author I translate for likes the idea of a production & consumption (rather than commodity) chain. The idea is a sequence of operations and/or players from stable to table or field to fork.

"Chains" is a further possibility for the second sentence, although I would hesitate to qualify this here with "commodity" as suggested by Gabrielle, as tropical products are not necessarily commodities (although of course they can be).
