I really meant "well-maintained" for "well-supported", as the latter is far from ideal here.

I think there is a bit of a difference between "well-maintained" and "well-monitored", but I'm no expert in the field.

I was meaning "well taken care of" (looked after) for "bien accompagnée", but that could mean "well-monitored", I suppose. I was just worried about precision here, considering the nature of your text. And as I already mentioned, French will make a "slight" distinction between "well-supported" and "well-monitored" at times, sometimes to be redundant rather than with a real semantic reason -- but you never know!) . I've seen examples where a difference warrants a distinction to be made in the translation.

According to my latest information, in officialese, the word "supervise" tends to be avoided so as not to make it look like state interference. "Accompagnée" in that case is a rather mealy-mouthed euphemism.

Why does French sometimes make a distinction between "bien accompagné" and "bien suivi"?

plantes bien accompagnées et suivies (in lab studies, etc)
