French to English translations [PRO]
Art/Literary - Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting / Friedberger
French term or phrase: écriture
In an essay-type text on Philippe Friedberger:
"Il y a puisé le ferment d'une écriture à la fois fusante et concertée, fondée sur l'émission du geste-réflexe, en marge de toute relation au monde visible."
I have found this term in relation to Goncourt but not sure what it is called in English or if it is not translated. Thanks!

Asker: This would be the obvious answer but he is a painter so it doesn't make sense!

agree Miranda Joubioux: If this text refers to the Goncourt brothers then I think it is dealing with their writing style.

mode of expression

Explanation:
He's a painter, so it means his style, but style in a visual artist could mean many things. Perhaps mode of expression is better (i.e. a characteristic way of expressing himself graphically and physically, as one does in the act of writing)?
