I'm assuming that "respirations" here refers to mini-events, meeting directors, actors, etc, readings, lectures(-demonstrations), etc, a catch-all term.
I'd like something that retains the poetic character of respirations.

Having just read the phrase in context (easy to find on the net), I wonder if they are referring to something more "profound". Maybe the idea of "respiration" is the rhythm of breathing? I think I would find out exactly what they mean before attempting to translate it.
