A request I received by email:

Hi,
My 10 year old is reading the Hardy Boys Mysteries and in one story a Canadian
Trapper uses the expression "Bon Tonerre" when he is caught off guard or
shocked. Do you happen to know what this means?

Good lord!, good grief!
Explanation:
tonnerre is actually the lighting, thunder etc so the expression is like saying "Good God!" (there is also the Tonnerre de Dieu! which is an expression like "Oh my God!")

Just an idea.
