French term or phrase: test de la tige rigide
This involves a test that a police officer (Canada) can conduct on a motor vehicle (most likely a motorcycle) to determine whether its exhaust sytem has been modified. Can find only one reference but it still doesn't tell me much.

English translation:rod insertion test
Explanation:
The trick boys on mopeds (be they black or not [Sinead O'Connor] play is to remove the baffles in the exhaust silencer. This allegedly makes the mopeds go faster - enabling them to go faster than the moped or their licence is designed for - and also makes A LOT OF NOISE.

It would seem logical that the further a rod can be inserted into the exhaust silencer, the greater is the evidence that the baffles have been removed to obtain what is called a "straight-through" exhaust. I guess smart kids will remove all the baffles but the last, so the rod cannot be inserted any distance.
